Understanding Neurodiversity

Understanding Neurodiversity

Our family’s greatest success has been understanding. This understanding spans home, school, family, community, and individual perspectives. I’m continually growing in my own understanding. Recently, a Diverse Learning Leader from a Melbourne school, who’s also a parent of an autistic child, shared with me: "To know one autistic child is to know one autistic child."

One of the toughest challenges in the early stages and through our children's diagnosis was grasping neurodiversity and how different conditions intersect. We leaned on our medical team’s expertise and dedicated ourselves to learning about neurodivergent conditions

Here in Australian we have a wealth of knowledge and resources available to us, whilst these resources are general in nature and do not speak to induvial needs, they are a great place to start in building your own bank of knowledge.
